The New Year is very much here! It’s now the end of January and your Surrey Baby and Family Photographer is ready to go!
I hope you are feeling happy and well inspite of it now being the middle of our UK winter.
We have just returned from a trip to New Zealand to see my family and to share with our children what it means to be a kiwi kid at Christmas time.
I am including some excerpts from my private Instagram account to give you a taste of a New Zealand Christmas time, which for us meant enjoying outdoor excursions with friends and family and grabbing as many sunshine hours as we could.
I also thought it would be nice to share my iphone picures just to show you that not all great photographs are made on big cameras. : ) Instead you just need to understand how to recognise ideal lighting conditions and have a keen eye for a good composition.
Yes I left the big camera at home for this trip! Photographers need a break from their big heavy kit from time to time and Christmas time is traditionally my holiday break from using the big camera.) And hopefully you will be pleasantly surprised with my Iphone skills. : )
We had a really wonderful time. The boys enjoyed learning about the volcanic region of the North Island and they became really confident at identifying many of the wonderful native birds that have been reclaiming the nature reserves and suburban back gardens of Wellington, where we were based over Christmas and the New Year.
The visit home is always a little emotional for me. Being home and spending time with loved ones in the place where I grew up is a wonderful feeling. Returning home to the Uk feels like the right place to be too. Anyone who’s heart belongs in two different places across the world will understand this divided feeling.
You won’t see too many Christmas mince pies or Christmas decorations in my holiday photographs. I asked my two boys to sumarise what Christmas time is like in New Zealand and the first three things they said were ‘sunshine’, ‘barefeet’ and ‘family’. (((((love this)))))
We couldn’t have asked for a more positive start to a new decade as a family.
I am now back at my desk and getting the big camera out ready for another busy and enjoyable year photographing new and old families who have booked in with me for family sessions in 2020.
If you are reading this and you purchased a gift voucher over the Christmas period and you are yet to book your session date don’t leave it too long to book in! Looking at my current booking schedule for 2020 I recommend booking three months in advance if you are wishing to book a weekend session in the spring or summer time. I will drop you an email / personal reminder to book in : ) And did you know I have a Sarah Angel Photography page over on Instagram?
