{Bee is for Bailey’s Second Birthday}
Those of you who know Bailey might be a little confused seeing this post here in September 2014 and just a few days after his 4th birthday party too! This is a very sentimental blog, one from my old blog site and taken on the old Nikon camera. I have been waiting for the right time to repost it here on my new website.
I absolutely love children’s birthday parties. I think it brings out the big kid in me and putting on a themed party for my children has, I have to admit, become a bit of a self indulgent and obsessive activity. I have really enjoyed reliving my own childhood birthday party joy as well as the opportunity to get a bit crafty and enjoy a bit of mad late night baking in the lead up to the big day. There are other family birthday parties which I am getting ready to post on the blog soon but my obsession all started right here with the Bee Party. During my pregnancy (with Bailey’s little brother Tristan), I tended to spend a great number of evenings addicted to pinning creative stuff on my Pinterest boards, including lots of children’s birthday party ideas. I couldn’t resist the challenge of giving Bailey a themed birthday party. Talk about keeping things simple with a newborn in the house! But actually, with some careful planning and a lot of help from Hubby and Bailey’s Uncle who was visiting from Australia, we ended up with a bee-spectacular party for our two year old B. But it’s not so self indulgent, when on the day, children are at the heart of that joy.
The table was all laid out indoors ready for a subdued mid-September gathering at Papa and Nai Nai’s (grandpa and grandma’s) house in Surrey (as they had more room) and then low and behold we had one last heat wave to end the summer. So out came the gazebo, paddling pool and bubbles for one last blast of summer! Warm crumpets and honey now optional!
So all in all we had one happy birthday boy and guests. Stay tuned for a second part to Baileys birthday celebration as no birthday is complete without a portrait session to mark the turning of a new age. Happy 2nd Birthday my little ray of sunshine.
Below this page you will see the dusky pink coloured ‘P – Share’ Button’ which gives you the opportunity to pin any or all of these images to your own Pinterest boards.
If you scroll to the very bottom of this page (or any other page here on my website) and click on the little round ‘P’ button you will find my Pinterest page and all of my folders (so far) of Birthday party joy. : )
Then, if you don’t have your own Pinterest account and you are a magpie (like me) for all things visual and creative, then I highly recommend you get in on the fun. It’s great for generating visual ideas for just about anything. You can find their site here: http://www.pinterest.com
Happy pinning!
