{Tristan and the Party Animals}
I can’t tell you how much I love putting on a children’s birthday party and I have to say it has become a bit of a summer time hobby of mine (although my husband likes to call it an out-of-hand obsession). Our youngest boy’s birthday marks the beginning of the summer time whilst our eldest boy’s birthday punctuates the full stop at the end of Summer. Every bit of organising each party so far has been loads of fun for the kids as they watch each stage take shape, and it’s all a steep learning curve for Mum. From negotiating the party theme with the birthday boy to fighting it out in the kitchen with my limited but slowly growing repertoire of cake and biscuit making skills, I always thought the parties would get more and more elaborate but surprisingly experience has taught me that simple is often best! Creating something that we will all remember together as a family, through those shared experiences and the photographs that come of it, are now central to my obsession. And did I say how much I love being the family photographer at my children’s birthday parties! : )So last summer our wee boy Tristan turned two and here is what his party looked like!
In true British style we had sunny and rainy day plans included on the invitation! Coats and Wellies in case of rain and swim suits and a towel for the paddling pool! Lucky for Tristan, the party animals and all of their guests, it was a really fantastic sunny day and the paddling pool took centre stage!
Mum (yes thats me!) set herself the task of making the cake this year. Wow I now have a new found respect for all the birthday cake makers out there!
Biscuits however are much more my forte! These were so much fun to make. Oink oink, baa baa, cluck cluck!
Tristan didn’t take long to get into the spirit of the party.
It truly was a watermelon day.
…..and older brother Bailey was right by Tristans side for a bit of animal peek-a-boo behind the straw bales!
These little guys were well fed and watered by all the children! It was such a hot day for them all.
The birthday cake was an absolute hit and Tristan has his animal party friends back at home. He loves lining them up on the floor from biggest to smallest.
Ooh. Looking as cute as ever but also a bit tired. It was a big day for the birthday boy.
